Whilst visiting my parents, on what would have been my Grandfather's 92nd birthday, we got talking about memories of him and it reminded me of the life lessons he taught me before he died.

 

But it also made me think of the lessons someone can still teach you after they have gone. The genesis of the show started when I found a poem my Grandad had written, which we only found after he had passed.

 

The poem not only made me recontextualise my grandad, but my thoughts about my disability, death and life itself. I knew then, that I wanted to write a show about death, grief and suicide as poetry had helped my grandfather express himself and explain how he felt more than any conversation we ever had.

 

I wish to do the same with this show.
